Cristóbal Colón Spanish School can organise various
activities in Quito and the surrounding area whilst you study
here.
You can ask to your teacher to go with you as
a part of your lessons in short excursions. Ask also other interested students to join then visit the old town, museums, churches, art galleries, parks, shopping centers
and restaurants.
EXCURSIONS & TRIPS
If you would like o go in an organized longer trip with an itinerary and budget to the rainforest, beaches, the Andes or Galápagos Islands, please ask for it with our Travel Agency.
Cost per person:
1. Cotopaxi National Park.- Refuge 4.800mtrs: 1 day trip $50. Private car.
Travel along the avenue of the volcanoes to Cotopaxi National Park. Visit Lake Limpiopungo and take a great picture of the Cotopaxi volcano to send to your friends.
2. Cotopaxi area.- Down hill: 1 day trip. Price: $60
Mix height, speed and incredible views as you bike down a 4,800m high mountain.
3. Submmit the Cotopaxi Volcano.- 5873mtrs: 2 days trip $200
Try getting the top of the Cotopaxi 5.976Mts high volcano with a hard hike of 7 hours of climbing starting at midnight. Two days trip with equipment, food and transport included is $185. All included except $2 for the entrance fee in the park.
4. Amazonas Jungle Tour.- Cuyabeno reserve: 3 nights/4 days trip / $200 -
Visit the spectacular virgin jungle in the Amazonas. Live the impressive wild live and one of the biggest protected areas in the world. Visit the Cuyabeno area.
An Indian and a bilingual guide. All transport and food over the jungle included. Not included is Bus Quito-Lago Agrio-Quito. ($18).
5. Baños City.- The door to the Amazon: 2 days trip $150, Private car.
Visit Ambato and Baños, with its hot springs and spectacular waterfalls. Try horseback riding, mountain climbing, cycling, rafting and take a shower in the big waterfall “El Manto de la Novia” (The Veil of the Bride).
You can also plan a quick visit to the jungle from here. 7 hours trip is $70.
6. Otavalo City.-. The indigenous Market: 1 day trip $90. Private car - $50 Public bus.
Visit the town of Calderón, famous for its bread dough figurines; the town of Otavalo known for its "poncho market"; and the town of Cotacachi, where you can find some of Ecuador´s best leather handicrafts. Other sites to see include the town of Cayambe, and the lakes of San Pablo and Cuicocha. Here you can get a true feel of South American culture.
7. Quito City Tour.- The old town: 3 hours trip $35 - more than 3 people $15 - Public bus
Visit the historical and modern centers of Quito with their colonial churches, scenic valleys, and beautiful lookouts from Guápulo and Panecillo.
8. Mitad del Mundo Tour.- The Equator Line: 3 hours trip $35 - more than 3 people $15 - Public bus.
A trip to the centre of the world - stands on the equator and move from one hemisphere to another in a single step. There is also a museum which showcases the history of the indigenous cultures of Ecuador. 3 hours trip.
9. City Línea Tour: Combined City Tour and Mitad del Mundo Tour. 6 hours trip $45 - Public bus.
10. Saquisilí Indian Market.- Real indian market: Only on Thursdays, 1 day tour $45 - Public bus.
Travel along the green fields through the Panamericana; visit the indigeneous comunity and market in Saquisili and view the Cotopaxi volcano from a distance.
11. The Hot Springs.- Termas Papallacta.- 1 day tour $45. Public bus
Visit the hot springs and hike in subtropical vegetation. Enjoy the earth´s hot water while looking out over the spectacular view of the Antizana volcano.
12. Rafting: Río Blanco.- Level 4 and 5. 1 day tour $80.- Private Car.
Experience the tropical vegetation and the refreshing waters of the rivers Upano, Blanco and Toachi while doing some white water rafting.
13. Horse Riding Duration.- Antisana area: 2 days trip. Price: $130
Antizana is a volcano and national reserve 60km to the east of Quito. It is an ideal place to spot condors and stay in rustic cabins at 4,500m above sea level. Enjoy the views on horseback.
14. Mindo Cloud Forest Town.- Canopy: 1 day trip. Price: $45 - Public bus
This trip takes you to the most natural cloud forests in Ecuador. Visit the "mariposaurio" (butterfly house), walk to the waterfalls and enjoy ¨tubing¨ in rubber rings down the river.
Stay at Cabañas "Gran Eden", two hours from Quito, and have a peaceful night.
